It's been 63 years since India became independent. But are we really free?

What has 63 years of independence brought for its people. Are we Indians really enjoying our freedom life equally? Are we enjoying our rights freely? We are still fighting for freedom from hunger, poverty and many more. There are many people who are still struggling to get food. The government policies never reach the poor. The main reason for everything is corrupt politics. There is no room for honest people. Unless politics and the mind set of people change, we will never be free.

Last year (2009) I wrote a special article about it although I'm non-Indian writer. My article had won 2nd. winner in one India Forum contest. I compiled it all in myebook and for now it has been viewed by 51976 viewers (readership). This is the link to the article; http://www.myebook.com/index.php?id=14223&option=ebook The main thing now is India needs the "2nd. Mahatma Gandhi" to rule the government in reaching the real meaning of India's independent status. Hopes India will begetting it in 2014 Lok Sabha Election.

Any country it'll depend on one leader and next is the followers (people). A leader will shape one country's governing policy. Don't worry, once India reached 50% figure for middle class group expected in 2020, this group turn the table around in governing India ruling system.

I agree. Our administrators have failed miserably. We do need to review where we stand. We say we are independent. Independence doesnt mean just having own administrative, and defense forces. It also means being responsible about each and every citizen, and about the prosperity of the nation, and the relationship with foreign nations. We dont score anywhere!!! :( To date we import food items, too date we important machinery, our relationship with each of our neighbor is awful, and in so far as citizens are concerned, they've become powerless to change the system with each passing day.

Actually - you have hit the nail on its head. If we address the child labor problem, we will automatically make it non-viable to have more children, which effectively addresses the family planning problems we are facing. :) Yes, young children should be going to school instead of mopping floors. :)

Rightly Said. There are many things to be taken care of. Education has become a business. Child Labor has been a major concern. Many children are not going to school.

hai friend. nice question but i am really still i am enjoing my independence. because my country gives liberation his people very high. more people used the liberation perfectly. liberation used perfectly its reflected good. liberation used unperfectly its reflected bad. all liberation reflected depeding upon the people. people create bad and good thing also. some people create crminial activites. more people create good activities. so liberation is good. but it is used depening upon the people. still i like independence. and also indian population is very high. so government did not able to control all of them. this is our major problem... thank you

I guess not only India is asking such question in here. What is FREEDOM anyway, when we are not still free to do the things we want to do, and if we are still constrain to tell about the truth esp with the politics and its corruption. Here there and everywhere this question is still a big question. When is Freedom can be considered as freedom. Have a good wekdays
