Is anyone else here a big fan of this Irish author? She writes 'chick lit' but I feel she deals with darker problems and realistic life situations than the average chick lit author. I also think she is very funny. I have read all her books, approx 10 or 12 I'm not sure there are maybe more. I just know I really look forward to each new one that comes out and it's hard to do anything else in my free time but get lost with it :0) the first one I read was called 'Rachel's Holiday'.

I have read Rachel's holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am actually starting 'The other side of the Story'. I would love to read more of her books, but it's not easy to get it from where I am. I do make a point of looking for any of her books when I am in UK. WhaT can I say, I'm a 'Chick Lit' gal.

There's nothing wrong with a good bit of 'chick lit', we don't have to be reading high brow stuff all the time!

Oh, I forgot that I have read 'Last Chance Saloon' as well. It has been so long ago that I forgot it was Keyes. I just passed my book case and I saw it. I can't even remember what the story was. Thanks for the support, oldchem. You're absolutely right. Sometimes I just want to read something without thinking.

I second that, nothing wrong with some chick lit escapism! I thought I had read all her books and then found one in a charity shop last weekend called Angels which made me think of starting this post. It's, shock, really good too, set in LA and it's about Rachel and Claire's sister, Maggie. I have read so many of her books, I am trying to see if I can predict the ending but hopefully she will surprise me. It's nice to see so many other Marian Keyes fans on MyLot. She has her own website which she blogs on now and again, sometimes she suffers from depression which is quite sad but I guess like a lot of artists, she has inner turmoils.

I have always been a fan of Marian Keyes, after reading a few of her books, The Other Side of the Story, Sushi for Beginners, Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married and Anybody out There (one of my favourites!), over the years, I eagerly awaited her new book, This Charming Man after reading about it on her website and seeing adverts on the TV. When I bought it I was surprised to see that it was 900 pages long! But reading it doesn't feel like you're reading a huge long book, it flies by!! The story is written in the eyes of 4 women, and each women has their own "font" and "type" of writing, which makes it very easy to distinguish between each character which I love as it makes it so much less confusing! As you say that you have read Marian Keyes book before, and enjoyed it, I am sure that you will love this book just as much, it is a typical Keyes book! It truly is an amazing book with some fabulous loveable characters, and some loathsome characters! It's wonderful, funny, witty, clever and interesting.

Oh, I have read most of her books, and I love them! She is really funny and you can just read the books in one go if you just have the time, which is great! Definitely one of the best chic lit authors out there!
