on people who openly smoke...

Here I am with yet another rant. Maybe I should change my username to "rantingcommuter" because it seems like most of my rants have something to do with what happened to me while using public transport. First off, I am a non-smoker and I know the ill effects of smoking. I was with my niece again when we were taking this public transportation which we call "tryke" in our place. One male passenger was smoking so openly and blowing the smoke so freely everywhere he wanted to spew his smoke and so I was aware again of how bad this is for the kid with me. I elbowed her to cover her nose while I was also using my hand to cover my nose. I didn't care if the smoker saw us doing this or not, but I think he should be careful next time about the place where he is supposed to be doing this bad habit. Second-hand smoke is as dangerous as first-hand smoke and I do not even know this person who was trying to expose other people from the smoke he was expelling from his lungs and mouth. Such is rudeness.

I think you meant passive smoking rather than second hand smoker.. You are right, passive smokers gets the most ill effect... I abhor smokers.. they are the most inconsiderate people in the planet..

Rude is what they are. Those are not even legal! I am a smoker too but I always consider the people around me, even the strangers. And like you I have encountered those kind of people too and ofcourse all of us hates it. I wish the police can do something about it.

In our place, smokers smoke as they please because there are no laws prohibiting them from doing such in public places.

Cutie I just wanted you to know that not all smokers are nasty. Our small community is a seniors village and I would say more than half smoke. The town has set up designated smoking areas for employees and customers and believe it or not most people do use these areas. Every now and then we get a non-smoker who will purposely come over and sit in the smoking area just so he has something to gripe about. Sometimes non-smokers can be just as nasty as smokers. I realize that second hand smoke is dangerous but there are a lot of people over the age of 60 that just aren't going to quit now. All we can do is educate our children so they don't smoke and maybe our future will be smoke free.
