Move apps to SD Card on Android 2 - HOW?

i've been trying to figure out how to move one of my apps datat to my SD card so that i can plug it into the computer and take audio files from one of the apps. i have spoofapps and i've recorded prank calls that i want on my computer. i've tried jsut plugging the phone into the comp and accessing the phone's data through my computer, but the computer doesn't recognize the new drive. there is an option to transport to SD card on the apps manager, but its grey and i can't select it. i dont know what's wrong, because i can't seem to move any apps to my SD card. i've read some places online that you specifically can't make this transfer becuase it would defeat the purpose of restricting the app to one phone, but then why would there be an option to transfer it anyway! if anyone can help i'd greatly appreciate it.
