My friend is taking his son down town to do school shopping. He will take one train for two hours and the other I don't know how long. The clothes are really nicely priced. I have to say. But,taking that long to get there is not worth it to me. Or am I the crazy one here? I don't like trains that ride above ground. They freak me oout a lot. So I try to stick with trains on the ground. Is this something you would do?.........Have a great day!

I wonder how much of a savings it is? Consider the gas, the wear and tear on your vehicle, what about the time it takes? YOu could calculate that. What is your hourly wage x the travel (4 hours) plus the hours spent shopping? I doubt your friend will really find much of a savings!

there is still the two hours there and the two hours back to consider, plus the cost of the train trip besides, where I live, there is no such thing as a train we live 12 minutes drive, by highway, from the nearest town where we can buy our groceries, to bike it takes an hour, walking,I've never attempted it

Yeah I would not mind catching a train. I love riding on trains! I find it to be fun but if it was night time then I freak out a bit because I can not see outside that well. I have this thing where I need to know where I am and can see properly or I tend to freak out. And you are not crazy. Every one is different. $-MrDollars-$

It actually depends on how much I'll save. Then I can say if its really worth making that trip especially if I'm saving in 2ways like gas and shopping. So I will do the math to see if its worth the travel.

no, it sort of defeats the purpose, especially if you are wasting gas! i would prolly take the train (but was the ticket worth it?) because i do have a lot of time to spare.
