Why is it that time goes by slowly when you are waiting for a phone call back?

My boyfriend and I always talk on the phone during the night, a couple hours before we go to sleep. I am just so used to it, it is imbedded into my natural routine now. I call him at 9:30, and he is busy so he says he will call back when he is done. Its late and theres not much to do, except try to fight boredom and just wait ,wait ,wait Do any of you guys ever experience the same thing? Do you have any tips on how to get rid of the "tick tock waiting, waiting" feeling?

I just look for something else to do. Such as, reading, surfing the internet, playing games online, or watching my favorite TV show. There are so many things you can do. You can also find a hobby like I did and that is making candles, writing stories or poetry. You shouldn't sit around waiting for a phone call, keep busy doing something you like to do then the time will go by faster then you think.

I have an easy time during the day, but when its late at night, I just have a really hard time distracting myself. The end of my day is getting closer and closer and so the little tick tock in my brain is faster and faster I guess. So its hard for me to concentrate sometimes UNTIL i feel hahahaha

I can compare this to a microwave. Ever get the feeling that when you are heating a meal let us say a minute in half and you are standing there waiting and waiting for the microwave to stop. It kind of feels like one hour as it won't go quick enough. Now if you set the microwave for a minute in a half and you go and let say on the computer and log in to one of your sites it seems that by the time the site is still logging in - ding there goes the microwave too quick. So what I am trying to say when ever this happens you have to try really hard and keep your mind busy or the waiting will get the best of you.

I experienced the same things when I was new here in my husband hometown and I was still adjusting and he used to arrive home late because of his work. 5 minutes seems like 1 hour when I am waiting for him.
