what do you go for, a lipgloss or a lipstick?

Hi myLotters..
The appearance of our lips plays an important role in our looks.. Some may love lip gloss, others love lipstick..
As for my own opinion, lip gloss is better for me because not only it gives me that shiny look on my lip, but it also nourishes my pouts helping them exfoliate dry skin.. I don't use lip stick because most lip sticks feel heavy on my lips, and I don't like that kind of feeling.
My favorite brand in Nivea lip care moisturizer in red. It feels light and nice on the lips. And regular use of it makes lips pinkish than ever..
How about you, what's do you prefer most, a lip gloss, or a lip stick? And what's your brand?

i like lip gloss better than lipstick cause i have chopped lips for sometime that i can't even make it wet,lol! i like those nivea cherry flavored lip gloss it is like a lipstick for me cause it turned red,but not too dark as lipstick.at least it gives life to my dull lips.
but i make use of lipstick also after applying a lip gloss,well that depends on my mood.and if i have to go somewhere i would definitely put lipstick,to make it more darker and livelier.

yes,it's much better to use colored lip gloss rather than colorless ones.to make enhancements on our lips,of course.i also don't always use lipstick.well,it depends on where i am going and how pale does my lips looks like.if i'm not satisfied with lip gloss i'll top it off with lipstick then,to make it more lively.

I sooo love red lipgloss.. Pink doesn't suit me best though.. I think I look better with brighter tint of red compared to lighter tint of pink.. But if I am using my current lip gloss and I think I look paler, I dab a very thin color of magic lipstick which turns into red, and then swipe a gloss over it..
I think girls look nicer with red and juicy looking lips even without make up. Because red lips brightens the face..You think so?

Chapped lips are also caused by changing weathers I think.. So lip gloss are very important to us women, actually not just women, because there are guys who use it also.. Color tinted lip glosses are great! I don't really use colorless glosses because I don't have red lips, so I need some colors to boost up my lips' appearance..
Actually, I haven't used a lipstick for few months now.. I only use lip gloss always.. Maybe I haven't been in a situation where I needed it very much..

When I'm at home I always use gloss or lip balm to keep my lips moisturised, but when I go out, I really like a bright lipstick. I like red or pink that really pops. A cherry red lipstick and dark sunglasses and I feel ready to go anywhere!

Oh and as for brands, I like the rose tinted Vaseline lip balm/gloss (or if I had the money to spend, the Benefit one) and for lipstick, MAC. They are vanilla scented, long lasting, moisturising, and not tested on animals. Lovely colours too!

Hi Phaedra..thanks for sharing.. I think bright lip sticks suits you best.. are you the one on your profile pic? hehe.. If so, then bright lip stick suits you because it gives nice accent on your face, and since you have super fair skin, those color will definitely define your lips..
Nice brands you got there too! You know, MAC brands are really expensive here in our country..

Hi rogue.. Chapstick is nice, I have tried that when I was in college.. The red one..and I loved it! Actually it's the best.. Same as my brand now, Nivea, cheap lip glosses but does a very good job in beautifying my lips.. You'll never have to spend big bucks to own a nice lip gloss.. Very practical yet very effective right? I love it when I get to save and at the same time getting nice results from a product..

I prefer lipstick but with some gloss and or shine over it as lipstick alone could be very dry. I can not stand having dry lips, but on the other hand I cannot stand having wet sparkly lips.
I prefer the color stays as once you apply the lipstick you apply the gloss right over and it lasts all day.

There are lip stick with matte finish, and they feel dry over the lips..Though there are some newly innovative lip stick that already is shiny when applied.. I remember I have used Maybelline Diamond Sparkles in pink diamonds, and they are perfect for me.. They don't need lip gloss over it because it is minimally shiny and sparkly without the exaggeration..
Yep color stays are good specially if you don't always have the time to retouch your lips..

When i was a teenager in high school. lipgloss was the ideal thing for the lips. Every girl seemed to have a favorite shade for this. Some liglosses even have a distinctive flavor as well. Lipgloss was so appealing. As i got older, i turned more to lipstick. It seemed like the grown up choice for my lips. Now i have fallen somewhere in between. i still like lipstick, but i prefer some of the lipgloss shades and textures better.@genevy04 (793)

I think wearing a lip gloss or a lip stick depends on the mood, and the need for it.. Lip gloss works best as a maintenance for moisturized and soft lips, while lip stick works best in perking up our looks,.. Yes you are right that usually lip gloss has the best textures, which doesn't feel heavy on the lips, while some lip stick feels thick when applied.. That's why I'm very choosy on which lip stick I use.. I don't like the heavy feeling at all..
When I was in high school, I always go for either cheery or strawberry flavor since it has pinkish or reddish tint that adds color on my pouts..

It's good that you use both at the same time.. But don't you feel heavy? I think if you don't then you got a nice lipstick and gloss.. There are some lip products that feel heavy on the lips,don't you think so?
Avon products are good..They have lots of varieties of lip stick and gloss.. And lots of lively colors.. But I am not used on wearing lipstick, so I stick to glosses..

I prefer lipgloss over lipstick. As for certain brands I just go for a little bit of everything. I have a peppermint one I like I got it from Bath & body works matter of fact I need to go get another one. I also have one from cover girl I just got to test out because I am a bzzagent it is cover girl shine blast I really like it just wish it was a lot cheaper.

Hi Tina, thanks for sharing.. So how does a peppermint gloss feels? I haven't tried that kind so I'm asking you about it.. I always go for red tinted glosses and never tried the peppermint one, not even once.. So does it have cooling effect? Cover girl products I think are kinda expensive, but they have really great products..And I wished I could try one.. I get a look at their products in America's Next Top Model, and I really think Cover Girl is fantastic!

I prefer lip glosses, because I think they give you a more youthful and fun look. And they also make your lips look a bit bigger usually, which is another plus!

And the shine makes our pouts poutier, and gives a kissable appearance don't you think?? Hi lexclark, thanks for responding.. Lip gloss works great in keeping our lips moisturized and supple, however there are instances when we need to perk up our looks specially on some parties, or occasions, or even at work.. Lip gloss makes a pretty effortless look on our face, but lipsticks does more. Really, it makes us look sophisticated and more mature..
By the way, do you have your own favorite brand of gloss or stick for your pouts?

Fully moisturized lips exhibit a youthful and pretty look on our face.. I myself maintain using lip gloss because not only it beautifies my lips, but also I think I can't go out without a hint of my favorite gloss.. I feel incompletely set to go without a gloss on my lips.. And my lips feels dry when I'm not wearing it.. Happy myLotting!

I have a choppy lips, so i prefer much with lip gloss and every time I use lip gloss it minimize the chopping of my lips and it gives moisture, when i was in my college days i use avon brands but right now I'm using christian Doir lip gloss, it feels good and it heals my choppy lips. it actually depends, cause i like both, depending on my mood. sometimes i like more lipsticks, sometimes lipglosses.. and i don't really have a favourite band, cause when it comes to cosmetics, i try as many as i can, i never remained so far with the same product over and over again

I think it is just based in the products that you use. There are many lip glosses that are heavy to wear. Not only lipgloss can make your lips moisturized, lip sticks too! Perhaps you should try a good brand when using lipsticks. I agree with what you said that lip sticks are heavy to wear, I think cheap brands that do harm to the lips has that side effects. Maybelline now is producing products that can help moisturized the lips, and I love it! They are like lipgloss, too shiny but not heavy to wear, plus they can give your lips colors that you want. Why dont you try it? I really love maybelline products.
