Is thankfulness ingrained that deeply in our hearts?

Remembering to say thanks, how many of us do it? I read an article about a theology professor during the last few years of his life lost all memory of his past. While remaining cordial to former university colleagues who came to visit, he had no idea that they had taught together and were close friends for many years. But despite his memory loss, he never forgot to say thanks to God. We have little control over what we may forget in our later years, but today we can remember to say thanks to the person we would like to express our gratitude whatever language will it be. I';; take this opportunity to say thank you to the person who helps me put things into perspective for teaching me how to live again, thanks to you and thanks God for we meet. I believe a thankful person enjoys a blessing twice--when it received and when it's remembered, do you believe too?

Very well said and such a wonderful story fish_pink_zoo. When simple social graciousness like saying "Thanks" is not lost. Hope is rekindled. We are still humans. Basic civility still lives. And thanks for this interesting post.

that would be the best of us - to not forget how to look back and thank all the people who have contributed to the "us" that we became. For me, i'd say that i will not forget and always remember how to be thankful, even in the smallest of favors, smallest of things that i receive... I know that with that people will appreciate it. for the thanks giving you said here, you may need to go and say your thanks to them personally.

Yes i agree with what you say. But i wish people who say thank you only when they really mean it with all their heart. There are still some people who say it just as a formality and nothing more. I wish they would really mean it when they say it. Thanks between friends is considered unnecessary but i feel one should show a good way to express one's feelings towards another and that would make a difference to the person. They would really like it if you have done it specially for them. Cheers!
