I would still visit hongkong definitely but not for now. I can't blame them for getting angry about what happened. Another reason is, we don't know how their minds work. Personally i wouldn't take it against the people if one of them screwed up but that's just me, i don't know about them. For one, i heard on the news that there was a DH that was fired by her employer because of what happened. That could be an isolated incident but we just couldn't be sure. Secondly, i have a friend who lives in Hongkong and there's hate in people eyes when they look at them, now, that's a warning sign for me. But then again, who can blame them? so it's best to let the situation mellow down and avoid confrontation as much as possible.

The mistake of a one person is not the mistake of the entire nation like what Kris Aquino said. Chinese now are very angry with Filipinos in Hongkong which is not good because it is not their fault. It can happen in any country but I think our authorities are also can't handle the situation very well they are lack of trainings.

I am in the country and I live here.. I feel safe nowhere else in the world but here in my own country of course. These things happen, terrorism attacks happen, lousy day to day hostage drama action happens.. not only in the Philippines but also everywhere else... I would still visit the country, even if i was a foreigner... I mean, in Sept 11, how many every other nations have been killed in new york? we still, after all went to the US, right?

why not? i can avoid using busses and instead i will use jeeps or horses to go when ever i want to. bus is convenient but driver tends to have lack of sense of security

I just want to say that It's not only Philippines who encounter hostage taking, I think almost every country experience this. And please, not all Filipinos are like this. We respects other culture and foreigners who visits the country. No one wants this to happen.

A lot of things happen in different places, including those we're not aware of. And of course none of us knows what will happen to us in the future or where a particular incident will happen. If we dig the past, several things have happened to many different countries, and I'm sure that Philippines is not the only country that has undergone a failed hostage drama. It just so happen that in this case, the hostage taking that took place yesterday involved tourists and so it's just understandable that the concerned country of those tourists got upset. However, if there weren't any tourists involved and the hostage drama ended in the same scenario as yesterday (except for the tourists), it still doesn't change the fact that lives were taken, the situation was handled poorly by the authorities, and perhaps it's a lot more unsafe to walk around our streets. But what would the other countries think? Would they still advise their countrymen not to travel to the Philippines? Perhaps not, because none of their countrymen were hurt. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that in this world today, there is no such thing as a safe place anymore. We can't even guarantee the safety of our own homes. If I were from another country and I think that the Philippines is not a safe place to go because of one isolated incident, how can I be 100% sure that I'd be safe in any place that I'd want to go? That horrible Quirino grandstand incident could have happened anywhere in the world and it was just so unfortunate that it happened in our country and tourists were involved. The truth is, I don't even think that the involvement of tourists was intentional. I guess that Mendoza, in his hazed mind, just hailed the first bus that he saw and hijacked it. I may be wrong, that's just my own opinion though... Anyway, to answer your question, Yes, if I were a foreigner, I'd still want to visit the Philippines or any other place that may have the same situation as ours for that matter, except if there really is a direct hatred whatsoever for my own race, then I would think twice before visiting that particular country. Which leads me to your second question, I think I'd give it a few months before deciding to visit Hong Kong for the reason that many Hong Kong people may be very angered by just the sight of us walking down their streets and who knows what could happen. But if it were just an isolated incident like the hostage drama, I'd still want to visit that place and still be careful as what I'd normally do when traveling.

:-) Yes, I will without any hint of hesitation. My right to travel under the Constitution is hampered only when there is a court order and when i dont have money to travel. (Haha!) Without that prohibitory order from the court, i will definitely go to Hongkong. But i actually dont have plan going to Hongkong, i'll rather go to Israel God will's it.

Hostage-takings only happen here in Philippines very seldom. They should not be afraid to visit PH. Unless hostage-takings are already done everyday. Then don't tell me that other countries don't have hostage-takers to.

I would definitely travel to anywhere I want. It's my right, not unless I don't have the money or if I am banned. :) The incident was very unfortunate. It simply displays the incompetence of the authorities here in the Philippines.
