Tips for a vacation at Mauritius / myLot

I'm planning on going to Mauritius with my boyfriend, preferably in the fall (less rain then). Does anyone here have tips on what to do there? Which places are worth visiting and why? I also heard that you can swim with dolphins there, is this true and is it worth it? Also, we would like to rent a car. It that safe or should we rent a taxi?

I haven't been, but my cousin went, and she absolutely loved it! She did however mention, that very casual dressing, such as jeans and denim, is kind of frowned upon. So bring a fancier wardrobe, if you know what I mean. That is all I remember about what she told me though, sorry!
