Students who are taking up nursing are already aware that there's already an oversupply of nurses in this country. The main goal of majority of them is to go abroad since the pay is much better. Our local hospitals already realized that the main reason nurses are sacrificing to volunteer without pay is just to gain the necessary experience before they can work abroad. It's just like a tug of war. It seems that the hospitals are giving them the hard time and make use of their inexperience while they still can because sooner than later these nurses will just resign for a better paying job overseas as soon as they met the necessary work experience. ON the other hand, the nurses have no choice but to render volunteer work until the gain enough experience for employers abroad to hire them. Not unless these nurses came from well off family who can afford to let them study nursing competency courses abroad. As a result, the quality of our services suffer because a lot of the good ones are no longer working for our local hospitals. What you see instead are newbies who don't even know how to inject a needle in the right place.

You got that right. There are a lot of registered nurses that are incompetent. I guess the quality of nursing degraded due to the influx of graduates. The schools are not already pursuing quality instead they are pursuing quantity.

Many will choose to work overseas. But some will remain here. We cannot blame them. There's an overabundance of nursing graduates thanks to failure to regulate schools. If they all choose to work here, there wont be enough open positions to accomodate them all.
