Harvesting Organs

Per the most recent Scientific American some transplant surgeons jumped the gun in harvesting organs. I believe the article said the number of seconds legally necessary there to pronounce someone dead after unhooking the patient from life support was 120 and they started at 75 seconds. The ethicist at the hospital praised the doctors for increasing the probability of life for the recipient. That person suggested that it was immoral not to take the organs before any break down occurred. The article mentioned that harvesting organs when they were the healthiest would been quite a boon to the people on waiting lists, unless people quit signing up for organ donation when harvesting surgeons jump the gun too much. It sounds like they tell the family the person dies... keeps the person legally alive.. ushers the family out.. disconnects the person after the operating room is set up and then start the carving.. er harvesting. I wonder how aggressive hospitals get about kicking family out when a prime organ is wanted for someone important? Anyone here actually had a relative die that was a donor and how was the grieving process handled?
