All the batting positions are equally important...no doubt...but why is the No.3 slot being talked about...it has been talked a number of times...a foundation spot for some good runs and building up a good total for the team...this spot bought fame to Dravid(India), Kallis(SA), Ponting(Aus), Sangakkara(SL)...to some extent Lara(WI)...and now Trott(Eng)??? these players have been pioneer to their side winning matches in the last decade or so and build innings to give respectability to the score... whats your opinion..

Hi, No.3 position is an important position in the batting line up.Usually at no.3 the batsman will be under pressure. He has the responsibility of building partnerships and scoring runs. The batman needs to be patient and concentrate on the innings. It is a special spot in all the version of the game. Not only in tests,in other versions also it is very important. If the wickets fall early then the whole responsibility will be to the no.3 batsman. In these conditions ,most of the batsmen have faced this situations very well.Due to this, many batsmen have become famous on the no.3 spot.Ricky,Sachin,Dravid,Ganguly,Sangakkara,Lara,Trott,etc.Mostly the captains would play at no.3.This position is one of the very important positions and a batman whoever plays needs to give his best.If he does, then he may become a famous and popular batsman.
