Although for the most part I think as humans we enjoy fun emotions. We like to celebrate, we like getting excited, we like getting surprised by the unexpected(not the she's kissing my boyfriend kind of a surprise) but in general those are the kinds of things we enjoy feeling. But musically when a sad song is heard, the crushing lyrics, the solemn, the pleading melancholy tone is listened to, we want to play that song over and over again. We don't like to feel sad but we love this sad song. We like to feel this hurt feeling. We may even start tearing and crying but yet we want to hear this song played. I think it is odd that we enjoy hearing these songs when sadness is against everything we want to feel as a person. We want to enjoy things not be saddened by them. I am looking now from all mylot users to tell me their personal favorite sad song..and even why if ya can..:) Goo Goo dolls "Iris" to start you on your way....

It is strange how sad songs are so popular. It's like that with movies as well (ie Titanic) Everybody Hurts by R.E.M, -I'm not sure why I love this song, but it just always touches me. Very melancholy song. Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton -This is just such a beautiful song Before The Worst by The Script -It is such a pleading song which I can play over and over again Apologize by OneRepublic -Fabulous song with gorgeous melody and penetrating lyrics.

Hi, onediscovery. Welcome to myLot! I love listening to Keyshia Cole's, "I remember." I love this song. It explains exactly how I felt when I had to close my heart to the two men that I used to love heartily.
