Do you worry about buying fake items when you shop online?

This was never something I worried about.. Call me clueless, I know. But recently I bought a hair straightener online, a Solia. And I'm pretty sure it's a fake. I know what they're supposed to look like. This one doesn't go up to 450, it doesn't say soliabeauty on it, it came in a different box, and the plug is different. Anyway, I like my fake so it's okay.. But is this something people tend to worry about? And what would you do if the item you purchased online is fake? I'm keeping mine, because it works better than my other straightener, and I don't want to pay for shipping.. But would you send it back?

I have to admit that I do worry about whether I am buying genuine articles when I shop using online auction websites or things like that. I think that a lot of people feel as though they can sell fake items without anything happen to them, especially if they don't explicitly say that whatever item they're auctioning is genuine. If I got a fake item, I would send it back without a doubt, and demand a full refund.

i haven't tried online shopping for the fact that i can't feel the quality of the item. If this really worries you, then you should avoid buying online as much as possible. =p

I probably will avoid it. This was the only time I ever bought something online and it was a fake. I'll stick to buying brand names offline next time. thanks for your response.

Well if you pay good money for a brand name item and they send you some cheap fake.. I can understand why your friend would be mad. I sure was.

I've been surrounded by generic brands all my life. My parents are extremely frugal, so since I was born, there were almost no brand name products in my house. It was only when we realized that generic brands are conspicuously inferior in quality that we finally began buying name brands. When shopping online, there is always a risk that the item you buy is bootlegged. If it is something like a screen protector for an electronic, I wouldn't mind because it does will do its job, no matter what brand it is. However, if it is something like a case for the electronic, I'd rather it be name brand because it will offer more protection.

For me buying things should be done wisely. Reading reviews, origin and expiration dates, are important info to look at. Buying fakes aren't that bad just be sure that it'll not harm your health. It's becoming practical.
