Last August 29, we've celebrated the Philippine national heroes day to remind us about their sacrifices of those people who give their life for the welfare of all filipino people and to free us from bondage and tyrant to such conqueror of our nation. But how do you really signify the meaning of a hero? and is a hero thing lives in our heart?

Yes, there's really hero around us. Real ones with no names at all, anyone who had done little kind act and touch our lives unknowingly. They are the "nobody" who help you cross the street, the kind driver who gives back change, a little boy who carries things for you, a student who greets you good morning even if you're not her teacher, this simple act of people we don't even bother to acknowledge are real kind of heroism. You don't have to give up your life to be a hero, just a simple good act for your fellow is enough!

heroes are not the only ones who lost their lives fighting the japanese during world war 2... heroes are not the only ones who signed documents with their own blood... and heroes are not just those who gets shot on the tarmac or those who valiantly leave their families, their husbands or their wives, to try their luck in faraway lands... heroes are everywhere... those who help the old cross the street, those who give their seats to the sick and disabled in a cramped train or bus, those who return things of value they pick from different place, and those who don't steal or take advantage of their fellow human beings... and surely many more... perhaps, we should throw to the bin what we've taught on what a hero is... that keeps us bound in the box, you know...

Certainly you're right about that...Most people thought about a typical hero that usually act like giving its own life fighting those conquerors and free us from the bondage of tyrant. But if we go beyond the meaning of a hero, we could find among ourselves that I, you, us and we, can also be a hero by showing good manner, character and things no matter how big and simple it is..

I think there are many heroes living amongst us. They don’t have to have done things on a global scale. The single mother who works two jobs to give her kids the best is a hero. The volunteer who gives his time to collect for the poor, the man or woman who donates a kidney to save a friend...They are all heroes in my view...

I thought National Heroes day falls on the 30th? Well anyway the point is the idea of heroism. All individuals may it be you or me have done a something to another individual in which you were considered a hero for him/her. The idea of heroism for me is not just sacrificing ones life for the welfare of the common good. It is sharing an act of kindness to anyone. That is why the statement "There's a hero within us" is really true. One way or another you have done something pretty unusual that qualified you to be a hero. So basically National heroes day is our day! Let's celebrate the hero within us!

I think to become a hero cannot be seen through sacrifices of your own life or the lives of the others...By doing a right thing for the common good of all people and the community, I think that's shows how true hero a person is...

I do believe that the OFW's are the modern day heroes. Living so far away from home for the sake of love and family is very difficult mind you. There really is no place like home

we are all heroes i guess, in this life of ours in one way or another i am sure we had help someone. even we are not appreciated or thank for me helping without expecting something in return is heroic so in that case we are heroes. when we need t o defend our country i am sure we will all do our part to be heroes. when something is worth fighting for i am sure the hero within us will shine.

I believe there are still a few heroes that lives among us. A hero nowadays does not have to die for a nation or a person to be considered as a hero. A simple gesture of kindness could be enough to consider someone as a hero. Mothers who are working hard night and day to give their children and family a better future are heroes. OFW are heroes. They spend their lives away and working just to make a living. Every one of us has a hero inside our selves.

Yes of course every one of us can be called a hero because we do everything for our family to provide them with all the things they needed and for our community as well by becoming a law abiding citizen.

I see so many heroes everyday. They don't get glorified but hey, they make life beautiful. Look to your right, or your left, I am sure there is one beside you.

I think there are still people who in their little ways can be named as modern day heroes. They may haven't sacrifice their lives for the freedom of the country but they have devoted their lives for the betterment of its citizens. Every year, there are many heroes born and more are being created. The simplest example of modern day is the teacher. I salute to their love and passion in nurturing the minds of the youths for the greater glory of the country. No other profession can match the teacher. Imagine on how a teacher try to lengthen his/her patience over the naughty kids and youths and also the way he/she impart the knowledge when the attention of the students are somewhere else.

For you to become a hero of your country you should be able to perform a patriotic deed that shows your selflessness for the good of the country.., The heroes of the Philippine History risked their lives just to prove how much they love our country.., I guess.., there are still a few who are idealistic enough nowadays.., but It's rare to find them..=)

I know a hero, who knows another hero, which that hero knows another hero.... and uhhhhh... Well being a hero is not necessarily being a martyr but being a hero is a person sacrificing something to help someone.

...for me, you can find a hero everywhere....doing good deeds and helping others is an act which makes you a hero...hero does not necessarily mean you will have to fight some tyrant and free our nation from some conqueror...hero is someone with a big heart who is always there, willing to help anyone..our parents is our personal heroes who were always there when we need them..when we are down they are there to teach us to stand again..
