Would you consider work at Alaska to drill oil?

I heard people saying that working at Alaska to drill oil might earn yourself some big cash. You might need to sacrifice your time apart from your family, and working under extremely cold condition though. Is that a truth? If you are in desperate situation, would you consider apply for a job to Alaska? I heard there are 6 months without sun, and it is extremely cold. It might be a good idea, because you don't have much chance to spend your hard - earned money. You can save it for later sake.

I'd try it no matter what because money always comes hard these days. But the only thing that worries me is the risk of getting killed. I don't know what these "oil drillers" do but it must be dangerous. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Also, I'd like to see what is like there up north.

Back in early 80's my husband had the chance to go work on the pipeline from Prudhoe Bay when they were first building it. We should have gone. It sure would have been an adventure. I watch Ice Road Truckers now and that is amazing what those guys do up there. I sure regret not going up when I had the chance. As it turned out, we went to San Francisco where he worked on the portable quanza huts that they would use to "house" the portion of the pipeline they were working on and then move it on down for the next portion

I haven't considered it for drilling, but for teaching. I understand they pay your way there and all your room and board while you are there. Plus you get a salary. So I have considered that! However, I didn't want to commit for three years. I would do it for a year, but not for three!

If that's the case then i'd surely would want to work there. I'm an engineering student and i'd want to have an experience from those oil rigs.

I'd heard that oil rig workers earned a lot, so I would definitely love to work there, even it the most isolated place in the planet.

There are oil companies there doing petroleum exploration in the State of Alaska, and yes I have heard about many job opportunities. Yes, you are right. The weather conditions can be really severe, extremely cold, at certain locations, the more northern you go. That would be one major factor to think about if one is thinking of working there.

I think there would be a lot of people in our country who would want to have that job. There are so many people who wants to earn a lot of money and save some money for a capital for their business in the future.
