It is natural for us human to love to participate in any discussion or argumentation, for this is the time we could express our ideas on anything that would arise as topic. If in the middle of discussion and being around of different people, well, maybe for those who are closed to us, it is ok to discussed anything, but there are times that there are also other people whom we are not that close. If in such situation, of course there might some topics that we feel awkward to discuss. For me, the awkward topic to discuss with people whom we don't know that well, I refused to discussed about age and salary. Probably my reason is to avoid embarrassments, for I know, people differ in belief in valuing our self esteem and privacy. Will you feel the same if this topic occurs in discussion with people totally strangers to us? What topic do you think is unethical to discuss with?

Hi Simple, True that when you meet a person for the first time there are several things that you would find unethical to get into. I agree with your thoughts on age and salary. I would also add up my selection to this list - I do not ask about the religion, faith and nationality at the first go. But again, it depends on what the participation or argumentation is about.

Hi thesids, Nice to hear from you again. First, thanks for dropping your lines in this post. yes, religion is another one, for it is really unending topic to discuss, and must always be in an appropriate time or argumentation. The same with nationality for it carries different cultures and beliefs. These topics may not be considered as unethical, rather just need to discussed appropriately. Thanks for this useful info.

The unethical topic for me to discuss would be if "farts were colors, which color is your fart"? I think that's unethical in my opinion. :D

I think it varies with culture what things are not good to talk about with people you don't know well. For me age and nationality would be "safe subjects" but I try to avoid discussions about religion and politics even with people ! know because those are subjects that make people angry and emotional.
