Let the kids run the show!

Ok here is my rant!! I'm not a foster parent but my in-laws used to be. The kids they had were older anywhere from 10-15 and they would be sent to my inlaws straight from jail or juvenile hall or something. They would do so much damage to there home and child protective services would not do anything about it. My husband would be over there constantly fixing holes in the walls or repairing damages caused by fire. Or they would steel from the neighbours or break-in to neighbours homes. Cops would come and they would blame my inlaws. But here's the kicker the kids have all the rights. When they come to your home to live they have a handbook of there rights. You as a foster parent are not allowed to discipline them. You can't take away there allowance send them to there room or yell at them. I recently talked to a lawyer and asked him what are the rights of the parents whether your a foster parent or there you're own kids he laughed and said parents have no rights. So what are you supposed to do? My inlaws treated those kids like they were their own they didn't go without anything. Even now that kids are grown up they still comeback to say hi and despite they horrible things they did to my inlaws they are still welcome in there home. With the laws saying that kids have all the rights and the parents have none are we just raising the next generation of criminals. Way back when, when you were allowed to discipline your kids they crime rates were small now look at someone commits a serious crime every minute. I also recently had a talk with a child worker and she said you let the kids run the show!! So what we has parents are just supposed to sit back let the kids do what they want and we keep are fingers crossed that they don't grow up thinking they can do what they want when they want. That's bull!! Thanks for listening...lol

Yes this is a really difficult and confusing situation. My sister-in-law has raised 5 brothers and sisters total at one time and she has had well over 500 headaches. She loved them and adopted them all as she was really not in it for the money. When I tell you early pregnancy, thousands of runs to the schools, under age drinking and wrongful accusations of child abuse, you name it she has had it. This wonderful woman tried her best and then some and in the end she is working on her last two of them as finally the first 3 are of age and no longer live in the home. She is truly an angel and these children have run her to the ground. She really meant well from the start.

Thats great to hear thanks for the reply. It takes a special person to raise someone else's kids and be there for them even when they're causing trouble!!

I read a sticker the other day that said I would rather go to jail for spanking my kids than have them grow up and go to jail because I didn't. Parents don't have rights anymore because too many didn't use them.
