Thinking too much

Hi there users. I just wanted to seek a little advice because i've been in kind of a bind lately. My problem simply is that I tend to think too much. I've even decided to major in psychology in college because of it. I analyze myself and other people so much that it makes me extremely self concious and makes me feel like I can't even be myself but that i have to kind of act a certain way. I have gotten much better the past few months because of getting out of high school, having a girlfriend who pretty much went through the same issue I am going through right now with feeling out of place and such so that's helped a bit. I just feel like i haven't cracked my shell just yet and i'm not able to completely be myself. I feel like it's so hard to start a conversation or keep one going unless all i'm doing is asking questions relating to what the person is talking about. I've been struggling with this for years now but all the advice I can get would be great! Thanks!

Sugar, your fine. Everyone has a quirk that they need to work through and yours in the need to know and analize things. Work with it and find something that wants to be fiqured out. As far as asking all the questions, most women find it endearing that you are so engaged in wanting to know them(unless you start talking about their menstrual cycle-and your not an ob/gyn). However, I will say that you are being your naturally curious self. You want to know things about the people and things around you. Phych or some sort of research job might be a great fit for you.

I agree. Computer Science which leads to System Analyst, or an Actuary are good fields for thinkers. You can practice listening to others too. :)

I tend to analyze myself and others quite alot too, it makee it hard to forget about things you really don't want to be thinking about though. Its hard to go somewhere without thinking of bad things that could no matter how unlikely they are to happen. Quite alot of people feel self conscious though, but i know i do alot aswell.

To be yourself, you simply do what you want to do, as long as you do not harm you. You only need to do according to your conscience.

Hmmmnn, I am thinking too much too.... Thinking of what was on your mind... Don't think too much... We are the only one who's giving us a problem to think about... Psychology? That's what I wanted when I went in college but I shift to another course... If you really want to take that course, well, then go for it....

The first step in recovery of any form of issues, is admitting to yourself that something is not quite right. As you listed in your discussion something is not quite right, therefore friend I would suggest you do seek some help and talk to a professional who can shed some light to what is so deep seeded inside. There is no shame and or problem in seeking help we all humans and from time to time the heavy loads of life causes our thinking to be of of sort. Therefore friend I would also agree that a little assistance would a healthy approach. Good luck - I see you are new to myLot so welcome - welcome to myLot!

i also seems to be like you....sometimes i wonder what people are thinking and what they thought about me....and sometimes, i think that i want to be a Psychologist too...i'm always interested what people that have lost their mind think....that's why i like to read books or watching movies that have psychology elements...i'm curious to know why they become murderer, or someone that has lost their mind... it's not weird though...isn't it?
