Nowadays many companies are promoting work from home to save cost on fuel and have more time to spend with family. Does your company allow working from home? I am working as an application developer, but unfortunately my company don't have work from home policy. Anyone out there who are working from home? How does your employer make sure you all are working instead of idling? Thanks.

My company don't allow working from home. I'm an Online Marketing. This job can be done from home. I think it's no problem. But my boss don't think so! We can use reports and Online stools to show our job when we work at home. How do you think?

I think the main reason for our company not allowing us to work at home is because they are afraid that we might not put full attention of the job given instead doing more of our chores at home. However, i think the most important part for work at home is to finish the task given on time. If we can deliver good results in shorter time, then we are free to do whatever we like. Of course unless you are a customer service/support that needs to go on call all the time.

Not really! I think most of the people here in our company wants to do that but the company does not allow it. I am working as an online English teacher and this can be done at home but the company is scared about that cause they are thinking we are going to steal their students and have private lessons with us. The reason is very lame.

What to do, we are merely an employee and has to follow what the boss says. Anyway, maybe you can actually be your own boss when your reputation is good enough. All the best to you and have a nice day.

My company doesn't have the policy of working at home. In fact, my job can stay at home because I am a trading sales and my job is contacting with foreigners online. It is completely possible to work at home. But we don't. It's so pity. I hate to get up early and hurry up to catch up the bus. It is so crowded in the bus.

Sometimes it is really weird why employers do not consider the option for employees to work from home... Especially like your case and maybe mine too. Who knows, maybe things will change later :p
