Theft Charges

So my husband is facing theft charges from stealing money from his employer. I didn't think that he did it cause I never saw any money, no big purchaes or anything. He had a pre lim back in May and I had to leave so I didn't get to see all of it. When I came back he told me the PD had him sign an agreement to pay the money back and plead to D.C. charge. He has until sept 28th to pay back $750. But in the meantime, he got a job but when his background came back with the theft charges on it they let him go. So now job= no money to pay the money back. It's down to 2 weeks left. I only make $225 a week, we live in public housing on food stamps, I've gotten shut off's for all utilities. No cable anymore, we shut that off. Just cell phones which I feel are important cause we have children, we need to have a phone. I don't know what to do. The layer I talked to said it will look bad on him if he plead guilty before but then pleads not guilty if it goes to trial.
