Have you tried to ask a discount on your purchases?

Good day Fellow Mylotter,
I just noticed that prices of commodities and goods are tremendously going up
now a days. I have noted this when I went to the supermarket and bought some goods. For this reason, when I am about to pay the goods, I am trying to ask some discount on the goods that I am purchasing.
How about you, have you also done the same thing - asking for some discount on the goods that you have purchased?

If the store allows haggling, then I do. I was uncomfortable the few times I tried but when I learned that some shop owners have the tendency to put a very high mark up price on their goods, haggling comes in handy. Sometimes though, when I'm feeling generous, I don't. :)

Its easy to ask for discounts...
the difficult thing is to actually get them , lol.
Yes and I learn it from my father haha. He always asked everywhere ( electronics, shops, supermarkets,etc) if they could give any discounts, or If you have some offer for paying (for example with credit or debit card,etc) .
Now Im used to it ,and well, some times you have some sorprises and have some discounts.

Nice one, champan. I do that too, but not in supermarkets because they have barcoded tags. I got it from my mother, who used to ask for 50% discounts or do a lot of bargaining tactics. She does it pretty well. I am shy to ask for 50%. Normally, I ask for 10 to 25%, depending on the item.

Hi Airasheila!.
Its impossible to ask discount in supermarket because every thing is a fix price there.
I can bargain in traditional market if we buy thing in large amount they usually give a special price. So we always buy a rice and others thing than we need a lot in traditional market.

I ask for discounts in plea markets because that's how things go there. How I wish I could do that in malls. Hahaha!

I'm too. I often go to the supermarket when they have some discount programs. I can buy with cheap price for necessary things of my living. With this doing, I can save some money.

some product have fix prices but some imported products have not fix price in if i buy some imported products then i ask for discount.

With the direction of the economic downturns most retailer and vendors are also loosing so they are not so apt to give discounts.
This is however a good time to get negotiated rental and mortgage deals though.
