Cigarette smokers

Cigarettes are horrible for one's health and they cost way beyond anything reasonable. Someone gave me a cigarette and told me that this brand only costs $1.79/pack. I tried it, it was okay but kind of weird - berry flavored. The pack said they are 100% tobacco, grown and produced in North Carolina. I like the idea that they're totally an American product (but still, they ARE cigarettes.) I went to the store and asked about them and was told they are cigars, not cigarettes! To me, cigars are fat and I thought they were something besides tobacco, guess not. The "cigarettes" are like very, very tightly packed cigarettes rolled in postal paper (but thinner). I'm just wondering, what's the difference? Is it really just size and color? For such a major difference in price, I may have to get used to these things. Or they can be just weird enough to help me quit by 'gently letting me down'.
