I have to say I feel very uneasy about posting my location on Twitter. Was wondering how everyone else felt about this topic

I have a twitter account but I don't use it. I don't think I posted my location there but do you mean like where you live or where you are the time you're tweeting? No I don't feel secure posting where I am at a given moment.

I don't mind, personally. But then, I only get as specific as my home town. My actual address, that might be another story. But I'm not too worried about someone knowing what town I live in. It's nothing they can't find on Facebook or Myspace. But that's just me though.

I don't like the idea of posting my location on Twitter or anywhere else, to be honest. One, if someone knows you are away from home and are local and know where you live, it would be a perfect opportunity to go break into your home! Second, no one really cares where I am...I know I could care less where anyone is that does post their location!

And so you should! I heard on the news about a girl that went for shopping and posted this on her facebook wall and some guy just came and robbed her place. But she had cameras so they identified and caught the guy. They probably just browsed thru her friends :))

No, I never would! Odds are nothing bad will happen considering that there are probably lots of people in my area that do it. Nevertheless, the internet isn't really a friendly place, so I'd rather keep my location to myself. If somehow you can be sure that only your friends can see the location, then maybe.. But even then I would have the feeling that I shouldn't be posting my location.

I do not use twitter because I think that site attracts stalkers, etc because you are updating your status about everything you do every second.. and etc UNLESS you are trying to promote something but if you are using it for pure entertainment, I do not think Twitter is safe what so ever...

I think it is not safe to put your location anywhere on social or community website (but I think it is safe for me to drop my location in Mylot's profile). There were a lot of criminal cases regarding identities posted on Twitter of Facebook. Some of them were identity theft, abduction, and rape. So, I do recommend not to put your location on Twitter, Facebook, or any other websites, especiall for woman.

I share the same feeling as you do ,but people are resourceful with loads of applications online these days your IP address is your biggest location give away.

Now im not a user of Twitter, so I would presume that isnt a problem, but I have heard that thiefs sometimes check online on facebook, twitter, myspace etc if the family is out for the weekend or not - then they use it to decide if it is a place to make a potential break in... :/

I have not listed my location on twitter ever. I have open world wide. Basically I use twitter just for marketing to gain referrals and since most of my sites are open to any one world wide. I like for my audience, to be from anywhere.

I personally haven't shared mine. I think everyone should do what makes them feel comfortable, so if you don't like the idea of doing it, you really shouldn't. There are reasons to be careful with sharing too much information online, for sure. So I think you are doing the right thing!

I never post my location anywhere on the web, unless it's absolutely required. And I usually avoid sites like that, unless they're fairly specialized and don't have a huge membership. Of course, when I buy anything online, that's a different matter. Kind of hard to deliver your purchase without your address. :-) Realistically, there's probably not too much risk in giving your location, because it's a general one, (at least I think it is, on Twitter) but I prefer to stay on the safe side. Besides, I'm a private enough person that my back goes up when I'm asked for too much information about myself.

I definitely don't feel secure posting my location on Twitter. Even though only my friends can see my Tweets, I'm very paranoid about sharing information online.
