I am used to sleeping with a pillow... sleeping without pillows feels uncomfortable and i can hardly sleep without it. However, one of my friends do not use pillow at all. He says that he likes to sleep on flat surface instead of having a pillow? My question is, can you sleep without a pillow? Or you are actually like my friend who actually doesn't need one?

I'm not comfortable in sleeping without a pillow. I can't sleep well without it. I actually do have 4 pillows with me. 2 for my head, 1 for my feet and 1 for me to embrace. ;)

Using a pillow is an individuals choice - and myself I am used to it. Without a pillow I cannot sleep at all. And I have a particular height of the pillow. It is 8 cms (height). If the height is less I may not have proper sleep, but if increased no problem I can manage. I am addicted to the pillow, hence during my travel it is very much uncomfortable because without pillow.

Oh yes,I came across people who spend the whole night in sleep without a pillow and also came across people who use Larger pillows of the size of 6 inches of height and there were cases where I came across even 10 inches of pillows being used - and when asked they told that to avoid snoring during sleep they use these.

Yes, I can sleep without a pillow. Though I've been sleeping with pillow since I was young, I don't know why sometimes when there's no pillow, and I can still sleep well. There was one period I really slept without a pillow, but it's just for that period. After that I still use pillow when I'm sleeping, as I heard it's not good to just sleep on the bed without putting the pillow under our neck or head.

well not really, i have a pillow that i have when i was just a little and i still use it now. The size of the pillow isnt really a question because it is quite adequate to use for adults. but i have tried sleeping without pillows when im on travel and such but i need a pillow for a good night sleep.

I like sleeping with a pillow under my head. But sometimes my nape would hurt so i try to sleep without a pillow on. It can help straighten my back without the pillow and less pain on the nape and on my back but i really sometimes feel like i can't breath properly without any pillow.

I am used to it too, but I can sleep without one, probably using my arms as an alternative. It gets uncomfortable and hurting after some time though. So I want lotsa pillows.

Once i slept on my arms accidentally, i mean the whole body lean on top of my arm. When i woke up in the morning, i can't even feel my hand. It is cold and i totally don't have feeling on it.... really scares me off.

Hi. asxenon. I can't sleep without an pillow. I need one to lay my head up against. Last night I slept without a pillow and I woke up feeling really tired and weary. It is because I need a pillow to lay my head upon. Ir feels so good when I can lay down on a pillow as I am sleeping.

When we get used of sleeping with a pillow... a night without pillow sure makes us tired and might seems like we did not sleep at all for the night :p Anyway, why didn't you sleep without your pillow last night? Just for a try? Have a good sleep tonight with your pillow :D

You hardly find me sleeping without a pillow --- two essentials for me to have a sound sleep are pillow and fan(atleast if not Air conditioner). It wouldn't be that easy to sleep on flat surface as i'm so used to sleep side ways...so it wouldn't be so comfortable.great day.

You are right. A night without fan is really a nightmare. Sometimes when we have blackouts... really difficult to sleep, no matter how comfortable your mattress or pillow may be, without a fan... you can hardly close your eyes :D

Hello! I can't sleep without my pillows! I always needed them to have a good night sleep actually. I use 3 pillows when sleeping, one I cuddled, the other one between my legs and one under my head. I can't sleep without them, well, i could sleep but its so hard that i woke up for several times because my head looks for that particular pillow which my mother made for me. Its a big and very firm one that ive been using for several years already. My head really search for it that for several instances that im not sleeping in our own house, really i can't sleep without my pillows. Goodnight!

I need my pillow for sure. I won't be able to sleep without it. I don't like the feeling of sleeping flat because my back with ache in the morning. I'm not one to sleep on my side as well and thus pillow is important to me. Other than that, I need my bolster. I must have something to hug in order to fall asleep. It gives me a sense of security. If I were to give up one, maybe I will keep my pillow. My head must have something to ly on, if not I can never sleep. Pillow height does not matter to me because I will becusing it so much til it flattened out in not time.

...Hi there asxenon, I can sleep both ways but I usually use a pillow. I have heard that sleeping with a pillow will cause you to have a double chin, from the way your head is positioned I would imagine. But I find it more comforable to have a pillow under my head when I am trying to go to sleep. I haven't put the pillow aside in a long time so I can't remember to compare. I also think you would get less of a stiff neck if you don't use a pillow. Take care.

Thanks for the reply. I really think that one would get a stiff neck if the pillow is too high. But if your pillow is soft enough and the position for your neck is not too high, most probably you won't get stiff neck :p

For me, i prefer mattress that are not too hard or too soft. If too hard, it seems uncomfortable and if too soft, i don't feel sleeping well at all.

I use a pillow regularly and prefer the pillow. But, if I don't have a pillow like if I go to a hotel, I don't like laying on their pillows and I forgot mine then I can lay on a flat surface only temporary though. I cannot do it for weeks but I prefer a pillow and I am quite picky over pillows too. I cannot lie on high pillows, I like ones that are soft and molded to my head.

I do think different people prefers different type of pillow. Anyway, i think the most important is the softness and the height of a pillow that matters the most.

i can sleep without a pillow as long as i will sleep in a soft bed...haha. because there are times that my siblings had used all our pillows and nothing is left for me. but when my sleep will be interrupted, i get some pillows from my siblings and i can says that having a pillow is more comfortable than none.
