Bugs bug me at night

In the past few nights, little bugs come out almost all over the city. I don't know what kind of bugs they are. They are shaped liked grasshoppers minus the legs and they are tiny little bugs. So tiny that I cannot describe any feature of these little critters. As small as they are though, their numbers are quite bothersome. At dusk, when I ride my motor bike on my way home, hundreds... no thousands of them would hit my face (my helmet have no visor, unfortunately) I have to slow down to avoid getting a number of them into my eyes. I even have to turn off my headlights just not to attract them. They would crawl through the gaps on my window and fly towards my wall lamp and turn themselves into a living wallpaper. One question that popped into my mind though is... these bugs are nocturnal. They come out in the dark but why are they attracted to the light? Why don't they go out in broad daylight?

Maybe they have sensitive eyes or are vampire bugs. These bugs must have a name. Have you asked other people what kind of bugs they are?

Yeah... actually I'm getting more curious about these little bugs. Last night as I was in the gas station, I saw hundreds... no thousands of them swarming on the station's overhead lights. And as I rode my way home, every street lamps is swarmed by them. every time I pass through an unlit area and near an open field, I have to turn of my bike's headlights off just not to attract them, or else, I'll surely get them in to my eyes and ears ... even swallow some if I open my mouth.
