Kindle vs. Ipad?

I am going to purchase either a Kindle or an Ipad. I love to read and want the portability of an e-reader but I am not sure which one to get. The Ipad has so many more uses but how is it as an e-reader?

Well, the Kindle only works for Amazon books, I think, and some of them are rather expensive. Can you read all sorts of e-books (including PDFs) in the Ipad? If so, I think it is probably better, to be honest. But I am considering some other e-book readers myself at the moment, and Ipad seems like it is meant for other stuff completely, so I am not sure I need all that stuff. I just want to read, you know?

As a e-reader it's adequate. The battery life is so-so only. If you're looking for an e-book reader, stick to the Kindle, which does one thing only and one thing WELL. The iPad is both more of a fashion statement and a all-in-one-not-quite-there-masquerading-netbook-touchscreen device. In a nutshell, if you're only going to be reading then stick to the Kindle. If you want something more then look at the iPad.

I can't honestly say which is better as I don't want either, but I can say that the Ipad has apps as much as $20.00 if I'm not mistaken, but even just $5.00 can add up over time. You can buy books for cheaper then that a lot of times.. I'd say comparison shop when it comes to cost of downloading the ebooks as well.
