Are Narcissists addicted to being famous?

you bet..it is their predominant drive.. being famous encompasses a few important functions: 1. it provide them the power and 2. fulfill important ego functions.

Narcissism, it's actually more than just being famous. Fame is just part of it. They have a really big ego and think so great of themselves. They always to try look good and want to be praised. They hate and can't stand criticism too. The thing is, this is actually a personality disorder. Ironically, underlying this big ego is actually a low self esteem.

narcissistic person seek for attention, it is their personality..by doing so they tend to excel on things which are very unusual and by that they became famous..

Yes, that too. They want attention and they want to be praised because they thrive for affirmation. Though it's normal to have some narcissistic triats, there are others who has this to the extremes as a (pathological) personality disorder. It is classified under Cluster B of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as published by the American Psychiatric Association.
