some people are trying to starve themselves and at the same time exhaust their body in the gym. after a day or so, they end up in the ER because of health trouble. first, they should consult their doctor if it's right for them to do both. but in fact, it's wrong. i had this experience. until i became an allied health professional, i then have to choose either and not both. but which one have you tried that best suited for your system? and did you like it and how is the result on your goal of losing weight?

I'm very lazy and I don't have a lot of stamina so I rather diet than work out. However, what started as a simple diet lead to me having an eating disorder _

good pieces of advice there rosegardens. but be careful on taking vitamin B as it increases appetite too. but as you have mentioned B12. just as not to confuse our dear readers.

You may be deficient in key vitamins and minerals that makes you so tired. Also, exercise helps to improve your motivational mood. Try just taking a walk around the block as quickly as you can. Perhaps you will feel better. Also, you may need Vitamin B12 to give you some energy, but find foods that are rich in it rather than taking the pills. Only take the supplements if you must, but try to avoid it if possible. Pills can hurt your tummy eventually. It wears down the stomach lining. More veggies and fruits will give you the nutrients you may need to help oxygen get to your brain. Again, walking fast or riding your bike will also increase the oxygen to your brain and will make you feel more alert. Good luck!

I use a combination of eating less and exercising more. Remember, the way to lose weight is to expend more calories than you put in your body. However, your body also needs fuel to live. So, starving yourself will only cause your body to work harder at maintaining its current weight. If you eat moderately and exercise regularly, you have the best chance to lose the weight permanently. You should also not try to lose more than two pounds a week. More than that and you are only losing "water" weight. This is why as soon as you stop dieting the weight comes right back.

it's about getting the fats off, and making your body leaner. that's the trick there. why do you want to lose weight by losing water too? rather concentrate on burning the fats by doing light exercises for a longer time. it's what they call aerobic exercises. of course, do it gradually. otherwise, you'll end up next day stuck in your bed coz you can't move due to lots of body pains. lol.

Exactly, in order to lose weight permanently, you must be able to sustain the changes you make for the rest of your life.

When I was younger, I could lose weight by restricting meals. Now I must exercise and choose proper foods, and eat a good breakfast. I cannot have just cereal, in order to lose weight I have to have protein in the morning. Most people do not get enough exercise and that is very important, not only in weight control but in overall health.

i can skip meals but i cannot skip water at the same time. it's my way of flushing my too much acidity. i would go into starvation and hypoglycemia if i skip both... and then fall into my gastritis attack. bottomline, i try hard to reach our emergency room in the hospital. lol.

For the first time in my life I took the right approach about losing weight. See I use to be one of those roller coaster dieters, starving my body to be think. I could easily lose weight but never seemed to keep it off long term. So last Oct 2009 I decided for the first time I would start off right. I bought a Jillian Michaels exercise bike and for the first time in my life begin to drink water. So at the same time I decided I would eat 3 -4 sensible meals per day. Although she recommends we ride the bike for 1/2 hour per day seven days a week I decided while watching my favorite show that that I would do one hour for 5 days a week. Can I tell you that in short of 4 months I lost 60 lbs and have never look leaner and skinny. My skin and health has dramatically been excellent. So now I only use my bike 3 days a week for 1/2 hour for cardio, continue to drink my water and still eat 3 - 4 meals per day. So for all those roller coaster dieters, they must realize that unless you take control and discipline for them selves, all they are doing is literally slowly killing themselves. This is my 11 month since the start of my great path and can I say I still looking great oh and eating too.

Not necessarily to starve yourself in order to lose weight. If you are good in exercise and maintain it regularly, I think there's no need for you to starve. Your exercises will enough to burn all the fats and calories that you take. But to achieve the most effective lose weight program it should be accompanied by balance and healthy diet and eating more fruits and vegetables.

if you do that, you can actually change your fats into lean meat. so you don't have to worry why you are not losing weight sometimes that you are more focused on exercising. it's because you are converting your fats into lean meat. this way you lose fats and you gain muscles.

just watch your healthy diet when you decide to bear a child. this is usually the beginning of the manifestation of what you said genetic. if you are not careful about your diet during pregnancy, you can be even bigger than you could ever imagine.

Yes, if I have to lose weight, I would like to go on diet. I can get weight easily. But I know that over weight is not healthy at all. So if I have to go on diet for health reason, I will do that. In fact, I am doing it now after gaining so many kilograms during my pregnancy. And so far, I get good result. I am happy with the achievement that I get at this moment.

we used to walk and run in the UP oval every sunday. it is a beneficial activity. i would prefer exercising and going on a diet together. that is the best routine.

i would rather define the word diet into some good amount of foods that are not actually too fatty, too salty, and not too sweet. when we say good amount though, might be abused. well, it's still from the person's tolerance and discipline. most people would just say, there's always next time.

I would advise those who want to go on a diet, not to go to the extreme. If you want to go on a diet, don't take fatty meat, I believe by now you should know. For me, I don't go on a diet. I exercise and go to the gym, play badminton, do whole body exercises. If you starve yourself, you could develop complications or syndromes like anorexia and bulimia.

very true. and it's a very difficult condition to treat about being anorexic or bulimic. it's almost like a disaster in one's body and mind. one safe trick is to drink water 20 minutes before eating. because our brain recognizes that the stomach is filled with something after 20 minutes from first food intake. then you go eat your meal. by then, you may feel you are full. so you won't eat much. and you can also control your eating. eat slowly and chew your food well so that you don't get bloated or indigestion.

Some years ago, I was a bit overweight. Not much, but since I was only 18, that was so much for me. I tried to lose weight by going on a strict diet, and at the same time, since I was a professional dancer, I pushed my energies and my body to a limit, because I had an hour and a half of dance lesson everyday. That didn't work a bit, to be honest, I just felt more and more exhausted. I "succeeded" in losing weight only when I encountered a bad case of depression, I lost about 15 kilograms in three months, not healthy at all, and I quickly became underweight. As of now, since I feel way better, I decided not to go on diets anymore. The best way to feel good is eat in a healthy way and make a bit of physical activity, neither to starve nor to exhaust in the gym.

you made the best decision in the end. congratulations. thank God you didn't go into mental issues from that depression. you can always do your dance lesson, as you eat energy giving foods. not fatty ones or too much salt or sugar.

I think that a correct feeding and above all a correct physical exercises are the best ways to lose weight. Remember that your body is a complex organism and the factors that influence the weight are so many.

more importantly, drink a lot of water. instead of eating a lot of food. everytime you feel hungry in between meals, manage this first by drinking two or three glasses of water. after a while your grumbling stomach will stop as you have already flushed the acid collected. you don't have to take snacks all the time. just drink water.

i wish i can do yoga too. i don't know any moves except the sun greeting. my supervisor demonstrated it to me one time. but also, i can't make any time for it. i think like it consumes much time. isn't it? but i know it's beneficial in the part of relaxation and everything else.

dieting should not be understood as not eating anything at all. it is a way of cutting your usual meals into halves. like if you use to eat a bowl of your favorite food, make it half. a plate of rice, cut it half. and replace all these cuttings and dissatisfaction with more water. and later you'll see the difference in your body.you're healthy and losing weight.

A little of both, but in moderation. I watch what I eat and how much I eat. If given the choice between white and whole grain, I pick whole grain. I'm trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. I'll let myself eat things like ice cream, but not in huge amounts. I go to the gym three times a week and push myself for an hour. I also try to go out and walk more on non-gym days. Both dieting and exercising won't hurt you as long as you don't take it to extremes. I've been at it for about a month and have lost about five pounds.

congratulations bwaybaby. it's true. we better take foods in moderation. we can eat many times with less amount rather than eating many in one shot and then starve later. this is totally bad.
