I prefer to use linux/unix/ubuntu OS, it gives us ease like windows and that to rich in features, it has flexibility to run windows programs as well to some extent. Main thing is you don't need to worry about virus/worms kind of problems. What you can expect in windows same you can see in ubuntu as well. There are some flavors are linux also available whose look is same as windows. I am sure 95% of people using different flavors of windows.
