I got a whole bunch of DBZ vhs and dvds, and I want to give them to my nephew who is three. I mean, sure he won't understand everything, but do you think all of the fighting will traumatize him? What do you think? I want to share the awesomeness ofdragonball z with him.

I have a 3 year old nephew, a 5 year old nephew, and a 7&8 year old son. I understand wanting to let kids see what you think are awesome and I think you should eventually give it to him, but not now. For kids his age, he'll need something he can understand and maybe something not so violent. I would ask his parents first of course. My nephews were addicted to Star Wars because their dad loved it. But my oldest nephew started going around pretending to shoot people in his preschool and my sister got 'scolded' by his teacher about his behavior. Since then any violent thing has been banned. If he watched something with fighting he'd try to fight and he'd either get hurt or hurt someone else. Dragon Ball Z, if I can remember is geared toward an older crowed and not for toddlers, so it's a wise idea to keep it on the shelf until he can understand the difference between real life and fake. This is my opinion as a mother and an aunt.

I know it sounds weird but he likes watching stuff for older people. For example, he loves the discovery channel and jimmy hendrix. He will watch adult shows and doesn't show much interest in nick jr cartoons. I hear eveything you are saying and I agree.

it happens like that sometimes. My kids were all into the food network and now the discovery and syfy channel. Although I have to check which shows on syfy they watch. But things that are educational are good for them because the absorb the knowledge, just like they would do a violent show.

I started watching DBZ when I was around 3. I did not get traumatized by it. I found it enjoyable. Not everyone is the same but I found nothing traumatizing about the series. xD I'm sure a lot of fans would agree. There is nothing that mentally shocking about the series.

In addtion, I would like to say the only thing I did after watching that series at that age, was trying to pretend to do kamehameha beams at my friends my age. xD It was silly haha. It was the most exciting thing on TV to me besides power rangers. :P

well 3 is a little bit young for DBZ because he might not understand it and such. but i dont think the fighting might traumatize him.

well, I think I am going to wait a while and instead show him other animes like someone suggested, digimon and pokemon.

to me dragon ball is quite an aggressive and violent anime but just minus the blood and gore.. and to show such fighting scenes to a 3 year old, is a bit too much.. but don't get me wrong.. dragonball is one of the best anime out there and i truly recommend it to your nephew.. but it is advisable that you give it to him at a later age.. i think at that age, better go with animes like pokemon and digimon..

I don't see a problem letting a younger kid watch Dragonball Z as long as it's not the uncensored version. Now I am NOT saying to let him watch DBZ Kai because that is crap but maybe start him off with the episodes that used to come on Cartoon Network and censored out some of the cussing and blood.

haha, anyone can watch it.But parental guidance is advised and should stop trying all those stunts at home or school or anywhere. It was 12 when i first watched it,it so cool. Its the predecessor of naruto,of whom i am a great fan.I like Goku and vegeta.

I think the children should watch this kind of stuff at the age of 8 y/o above because this time their brains is much more develop unlike the lower age but guardian guidance is still the best thing to do.

I think it should be alright I was just about 5 or 6 years old when I started watching dragonball on tv and I wasn't traumatized or anything and seeing as you mentioned your nephew isn't showing any interest on childish cartoons it might interest him to watch dragonball!

I think it doesn't matter. since boys grew up watching action movie. like pokemon or power ranger, or ninja turtle and such. although i would start a little later like when he is about five or something, all three of my brother are force to watch mickey classic and disney fairytale and they like it, i think...
