Do you remember the time of the BBS?

This is a question about the pre-internet era or the step before the www. For the younger members - the BBS - Bulletin Board System - was a way to access a distant computer over a phone line using a modem. I have emotional memories about these first attempts to reach far away in the world. A friend of my husband had access to a server in a telephone company and was able to make conections free of charge. One time he came home at a party and connected with a server of NASA. In my country at that time it was something unbelievable!

You could download or upload programs and things. But I remember this as the first possibility to connect with the world.
