alternative medicines for pets

I would like to learn about other people's experiences with alternative medicine for pets. This could include: herbal medicine, chiropracty and other forms of massage. I have only used garlic, ti tree oil and ti tree soap. My dogs do not have any bad responses to these. I also massag my pets particlarly at the lower end of their spine and the tops of their thighs as this helps to relax muscles in this area and provides relief from some arthiritis and muscle spasms. Can others suggest what they have used and the positives or negatives of these please?

I have not tried any alternative medicines for my dog. Whenever she falls sick, I just bring her to see the vet, and take the medicine given. I do not dare to simply try other medicines, as she is a Labrador, and the vet told me her skin is very sensitive. When do you use garlic, ti tree oil and soap? Do you use the garlic to rub the dogs' bodies, or give it to them to eat?
