Do you think there is a need to dig the hole in the guard's break room?

As we all know,in the Prison Break season 1, Michael and other inmates dig a hole in the guard's break room. Do you think it's necessary? If they don't dig the hole,and Bellick would not find the hole.

I think it is a part of Michael Scofield's plan. I think it is better that Bellick found the whole. And then he was tied under it. This allows the team to perform their break out. If Bellick is still around during that time, I think he will notice the plan right away.

Also if BEllick did not find the hole, he may have been a problem when they were trying to make it over he wall. They tied him up and left him down there so he would not cause a problem

According to the plot ,it was indispensible to dig a hole there ,or they would not make it to break prison .Michael is not so stupid to take risk doing anything worthless .
