Why do people poke eachother on Facebook?

What does it mean to poke someone...?

for me it means -- you remember the person you're poking, you miss him/her, you want that person to remember you also :D sometimes i poke when i have nothing else to do in facebook (harhar)it's fun though because you don't have too write long conversation- the image itself if enough. (wink)

I always thought of it as flirtation. I mean, kinda like the middle stuff to where if you like someone you mess with them ya know. No one else can see you poking other people wither, so that's what I think.

Well i m also confused about poke on facebook thats the reason i haven't ever used it there, according to me it may be like a buzz or saying gotcha! But i m not so sure about this

Poking someone is like saying "hi" to someone in a non-verbal way. It's like saying you remember the person. It can also be a way to start a nice conversation.

Facebook is social network, they can freely speak their own way. Sometimes they say nasty words for each other. I guess it's sense of themselves are not good
