OS to play some video games I can play with old PC?

I have an old computer, here the specs:
CPU:Intel P4 631 3.0 GHz
RAM:DDR2 1 GB(2 x 512 Mb dual chanel)
GPU:NVidia GeForce 7300 GE 512 MB
I will use this computer just for playing game, are there an special OS for gamers.
Anyone have an idea, what os i can install on my PC?

I like a strategy game, Age of emperor but I do like warcraft, Jade of emperor and etc.

use your windows, and update your XP, but choose it carefully when update, choose only security update for your own windows,
try to kill some of process from taskmanager when u play games, especially if u play on high quality graphics games.
try kill process only in your account name, usually i kill all process in my account name, only left explorer.exe.
dont kill system process, some of process needs to run in systems, n some not, if u know what systems that not use then kill it.
n dont kill network process
