How would you react when someone disturbs your sleep?

IT's pretty normal if we were woken up cause we overslept and we'll be late for work or school but how about being shaken up from good sleep for other reasons or for no reason at all? i remember that one time when our father just burst in the room and came booming and scolding us to wake up, when i got down i realized that we were woken up for nothing at all. actually, he was angry because the fish he grilled was over grilled and i thought we were going somewhere or something but noooo... i was grumpy even when doing my chores, i was thinking all throughout 'the heck with that fish! i won't eat that!" and i really didn't eat lunch. i just went back to sleep until afternoon. i was really pissed then, i had insomnia that time. he did the same thing again today but i forgive him (lol) coz he exempted me from his order.

I recall one time when I was a sophomore in college when we had to stay up late so we could finish editing our video project for our English class. I was a part of the story's cast and was the only person who knew how to make use of the editing software we had, so basically, I was the one who needed so much sleep. I had to supervise the editing at the same time, I had to do the burning process which took a lot longer than it should. At around 2 in the morning, I told my classmates that I had to sleep. I went back to my apartment which was just a door away, and slept. I didn't know that at about 4, one of my friends tried to wake me up. She said I answered her angrily with a "Shut up. I know you're just lying so I would go back there and edit the video." I didn't even remember I said that. When she couldn't wake me up, she just gave up and slept beside me.

wow... you must really be very tired and stressed to have not remembered what you have said. i guess the friend, if she really was joking, got scared and just stopped. i really don't like those late night school works but we can't do anything about it.

I could think about Research. Also filming that requires night scenes, which I've also done for an English project (with classmates).

Ooohh this is very interesting. Since I started working at odd hours, I also started really giving importance to sleeping. One of the things that really stresses me out is being disturbed while sleeping, and the people I live with know that so they try not to. Noise would be one thing that would wake me up, and when it does, I get really mad. One time I was woken up by drunk neighbors and it ended up in a confrontation involving the village security. Yeah, I really hate being disturbed while sleeping.. :p

whoah~ you must've been really angry then to have the village security involved. I'm thankful my classmate doesn't have a neighbor like you cause we once filmed at their village past midnight and we were pretty noisy. IT ended up with the village security telling us to stop though hehe... being disturbed is really not fun at all __

I'm staying alone so no one can actually disturb me. but sometimes the landlord will actually come and start knocking the door to ask for payment, but she always comes at the wrong time. She always tries to come earlier before the due date. I never opened the door, turned my mobile into silent and kept enjoying my sleep. If I was forced to wake up before I had enough rest, I will feel not well all day. I will feel dizzy and lost of appetite too eat.

when someone wakes me up the wrong time, i'd have the feeling of going back to sleep any time soon. sometimes i get a headache. it's good you could sleep with the landlord knocking.

That's a funny story. I'm usually to tired to get mad, when someone wakes me up. Usually I just fall asleep right after. There used to be times where I would get woken up every morning when my parents got up and made a ruckus in the house, but I eventually got used to it. Have a good day sjhaeki

yeah, when i shared the first incident with my friends they were laughing, they know how i love my sleep or how i just sleep all throughout the morning. i actually wanted to sleep after that, like go down and sleep on the other room (which i sometimes do) but i don't want to be yelled at again so i waited when he left.

Well personally you have to make allowances for parents sometimes since they won't easily piss us off deliberatly unless in circumstances of under great pressure or in big troubles.I'm with above responses,it depends on level of disturbance and I would ask reasons to try to avoid arguments. But I would still be pissed off since I get headache and not energetic in rest of the day from lack of sleeping.

that depends if they know when not to disturb, my mom quite understands us and lets us sleep, only wakes us up when we oversleep. Yes, the level and reason for disturbance would affect our reactions but disturbed for the wrong or no reason at all will call for trouble.

I see, does your father always have conflicts with you?In that case you should talk to him about how to cope with relationship beteen family members.Sometimes I'm too kind that I would even compromise to others over principal issues because I don't want see others anguished or sad.ANd I'm trying to get this worked out,lol

I work in night shifts. The time I reach home just before dawn, I will be totally tired and drained out. Luckily, I stay alone and there is no one to disturb me. My sleep gets disturbs only when someone rings the doorbell. As I am the only one to answer it. I really get angry. Sometimes so much that, I don't even answer the bell. And I never forget to keep my mobile in silent mode whenever I sleep.

ah~ the sound of the doorbell can be irritating at times, especially if the ringer is persistent. yeah, that's lucky of you to live alone.

I don't like being woken up when i'm sleeping by an unexpected things... but i am slowly getting use to it as a woman that moved into a house on the back of us(not joined on) has got a very loud dog that barks at silly times of the day and night and wakes me and my daughter up... somehow my wife and son seem to be able to sleep through it most of the time. I did get woken up yesterday morning by my son running in mine and my wifes bedroom shouting i've been sick at 5:30am... very unexpected.. my wife got up and sorted it all out though.

if things get repeated many times, sometimes we adapt to it i think... i just hate it if i'm disturbed for no reason at all or if the reason is illogical and not too important.

It depends when I am woken up. When I am very sleepy and I am woken up, and after a short while I get back to sleep, than I don't even remember that I was woken up. When I am in a deep sleep it is very hard to wake me up, there are times when it is almost impossible. When I am woken up after my heavy sleep is over, but I still not slept enough than I am grumpy and I will have a headache the whole day. I hate it, but there are times when I have to wake up. Usually the next sleep will be even better, and very comfortable, when I don't sleep enough the previous night.

Hi sjhaeki! My sleep usually get disturbed when my cellphone rings. Normally I don't let the disturbance get the best of me so long as the call is really urgent or important. I would answer the phone the "groggily" (hehehe), so the caller usually feels sorry that they've awaken me. Only my loved one can wake me up anytime so sometimes I admonish the caller and ask them to call again later especially when the call is not that important. :D

haha... the groggy way will really make the caller sorry for disturbing you. I just have it on silent, sometimes i don't even hear it when i'm too tired when its not on silent mode.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr This is the response I give when somebody disturbs me while in a deep slumber. I get very irritated when somebody tries to disturb me while sleeping, it the disturbance becomes extreme I shout my throat out that the person gets frightened and runs away :P. But it actually depends if I realise that I have been sleeping tooo late I quickly get up without any complains, but I would definately give a horrible reaction if provoked for nothing. Sleep is very dear to mee and it sucks when you don't get enough of it. Its enough to spoil your whole day, as you won't feel energetic and active with that half sleep still lurking in your eyes. So the moral of the story :P - Don't disturb anybody while he is sleeping, sleeping is when the person feels in heaven and disturbance at such a pleasant moment can cause the other person feel like he is in hell :D.

It is so annoying when your sleep was disturb with no apparent reason. I have hard time sleeping at night. So I sleep late and our uncle always have a caller every 4am. Or even late at night sometimes he does not answer the call so we think it's for us. So as a solution we buy a phone with caller ID and place it in our room.

yup, overseas call, and the connection drops because it rings every 5-10 minutes. Can you imagine that? Falling asleep again then after 5-10 minutes you will wake up by the ringing. HUHu

Hi. sjhaeki. I will be mad if someone was to wake me up out of my sleep. When my husband does this, when he wants to straighten up the bed covers, he will wake me up out of my sleep. I don't like this at all. It makes me so mad! I don't like being disturbed while I am sleeping. It makes me very grouchy, especially when I am in my deep sleep.

lol i wonder why your husband straightens the bed covers when you're still on the bed. yeah, i have to agree on being grouchy, but i think i've only had that reaction at rare moments. thanks for the response and have a nice day!

I guess it would really depend on who disturbed your sleep and their purpose. If I badly need sleep and someone wakes me up for no reason at all, I think I will be somewhat irritated. Well, I usually tell how I feel so I probably say.. "What?!!" and I bet they would not do it again.

yeah... it's how and who disturbs us. If it was someone who isn't older than me, just on friendly level i'd probably show my irritability, if it's someone older, like my dad then i'd just hold it in and be grumpy all day until i get my sleep back.
