There is a 'best response' option. Why not a 'best topic' too?

Hello,there!
I think "the best topic"is that topic with more positive rate.There are,on the first page,"today top discussion" and I can see,when I loggin, "....."was the high rated discussion on 2.10.2010.Or something like that.I think this is "the best topic".

Hi allknowing that is a great idea and it would surely help to improve the quality of discussions, but the person who has initiated the discussion judges the best response. Who would judge the best topic. Certainly not on the basis of positive rating because not everyone cares to give the rating. Besides, no one reads all the discussions. Millions of discussion get posted every day. We do not even know unless we go through each and every discussion.

myLot needs to revamp their system to identify 'best topics' as what we see now is based on - 'more the responses, wonderful is the topic!!!' and sometimes they get deleted too despite coming under 'highest rated' . Difficult but possible. They could
identify some discussions and send them to a team of 'experts' whom they need to appoint may be from among the users themselves!!

Best topic need not be a popular topic and likewise, popular topic need not be the best topic. Then there will have to be the best topic under scores of categories; and scores of interests. To fulfill the role of experts people might demand remuneration too, Which management might not agree to pay. There will be so many hassles over the choice of best topic every time..

I think best response is choosing from each topic. And if we want to choose best topics then we can't choose it. It is the work of mylot. And I think those discussions that are shows in under today's top discussions they are best topics which are choose by Mylot. And it is the discussion owner works to choose a best response from their every discussion.

Hundred marks there for you anurag! Your observations are perfect. We need however 'experts' on myLot who choose the best topics. Today they are based on the number of responses one receives!!

That would be crazy!! Yet effective. It would give the people that post great discussions the recognition and publicity that they deserve.
