Hi, There can be two major sources of a waterfall. Some rivers originate from ice caps that melt due to heat and come all the way down to meet the sea or ocean. There are other rivers, however that originates from rainwater accumulated somewhere in a form of lake. These sources are usually located at high altitudes. Thus at this premature stage the rivers have violent currents and often form rapids. At this stage water erodes away earth in the path of river. Some of these erosions take the form of acclivities. There the waterfalls are formed. Any river having in it's path through mountains come across such cliffs. These waterfalls are extremely useful in generating energy. Thanks. God bless you.

I think according to the laws of nature, water flows from high places to lower places.

Waterfall always comes from mountains and also from ice lakes. Yes there are many ice lake in the whole worlds which is the main source for water, so water always comes from their to mountains and fall as a water fall.
