Do you always handshake with other people who you meet? I mean, i heard that man must give handshake to a man, but man to woman should come with handshake if she was first who initiate it.

I am Hispanic and it is traditional for us to hug and kiss upon meeting up with people. Naturally if it is a business type of situation we handshake. The men in case you are wondering do not kiss and hug they handshake, it is almost a must for us. We teach our children in the same manner.

well maybe its because i live in nordic country which where part of USSR long time, thats why we are not so open for such things and first thing in my mind when i see two mans hugging and kuissing is that they are gay :D thats for mens, but for hugging and kissing unknown girl i could get in a BIG trouble if that girl have boyfriend or even a husband :D

Really, for us Hispanics it is a sign of rudeness if we do not kiss and hug at the moment of meeting up with someone. I will give you a chuckle today friend, imagine a house filled with many Hispanic friends and family, where we go around hugging and kissing every guest. , but this is what we do and we although we will not mock a new comer into the family if they do not kiss and hug upon arrival. But we find it cute that after the first encounter they pick up our tradition during the next visit.

I only do handshakes if it was formal. If it's just casual then i'd just say hi. If it's a girl then i'd kiss her and hug her. Lol

if I meet a man in the first time I prefer to handshake with him specially if they are my co-associate I mean my co-workers. Most of the time when we meet somebody new in our office I always give my hand to initiate handshake. It's formal to have a handshake with anybody even he/she are not your officemates. I work here in Saudi Arabia, people here specially old man when they meet new persons they will show hugs with kisses even man to man. It's there culture and there's no wrong about it. With regards to woman we have the same point of views, I only handshake with here if she be the one who initiate first but some man do first to initiate into a woman. There's nothing wrong about it but be we must careful not denied because if it's infront of our friends might be embarrassing.

Mostly I will try to avoid handshake. I think its a unhealthy practice in today's dangerous environment. Only if its necessary then I will do. That when I am attending any meetings or greeting any senior people in my office. Or else I will just a greet people by simple hello/hi with a smile. A anti bacterial handrub is a safe bet.

I'm a woman and I shake hands. I mean REALLY shake hands. I don't like the folks that just stick out a hand and let it flop.

Normally, I would always handshake the people whom I am meeting for the first time, regardless if they are male or female. The only difference, I would give a male a firmer handshake while I will softer with a female.

O! teh same with me - when i am meeting someone for the first time i am trying to handshake, but still if there is a woman/girl i am kind a confused what to do and how to do it correctly - not too hard, not too soft.

I say "hi" most of the time but I also do handshake if the other party offer it, be it a girl or a man, I don't mind. I don't often offer a handshake in case if it was not going to be accepted :P
