Me and my friend like to discuss about lottery. Even though I didn't actively buying lottery, I just enjoy talking about it. Then some converstation about winning jackpot strikes. We ask each others how much prize money is enough? And most of us agree between 500K and 1M would be enough. In Malaysia, the biggest jackpot have snowballed up to 45M and it was reported it was won by some businessman. I don't know how true it is. But 42M is alot of money. MYR42M is equvailent to USD13M. Then we ask among ourself, if we indeed win it how do we feel and what we do with the money? Of course we have a lot of dream and many say how they could spend it. But the problem is, all of us just not dare to claim the money just because of the security reason. Imagine if you have 45M. Just as you step your foot outside the lottery office, somebody will wait for you either to con you or to rob your check. Even if nobody wait for you outside the lottery office, imagine all of the sudden you will have a lot of relatives and friends and some that you might don't even know. Because of this security reason, all of us wouldn't want to claim the jackpot even if we won it. So how about you? Will you claim it?

I'd probably claim it. I guess the Lotto company will assure your privacy and security upon claiming the prize, that's for sure. Its really up to you how you flaunt it. You will only be recognize if you let the whole world know.. MYR45M is a lot of money, for me I'd probably have a hard time spending it up by myself. And if I'm that rich enough, I'd probably stick with my old lifestyle. Most probably, some of it will go to my church, to my family, or maybe to the charity.. and the rest I will invest to new business, so there will still be cash flow.. so that I could quit my job. hehe:) I won't be selfish that's for sure... I won't give them money, if my family, friends and so-called friends ask me... instead I'd probably help them with their life... help them put up a business or something, so that they won't rely too much on me..

I'm not sure in your country. But in our country, lottery here assures privacy and security. We really don't have any idea where the winner is from. The EPF you said, is just too bizarre... Honestly, I don't know if there's such a thing.. Maybe they will not give the exact amount, because they have to deduct the tax, vat, etc... But it doesn't really matter, the point is.. you still won.. Its too hypocrite for someone not to claim his prize because of the paranoia...

They should pay full in our country. No tax dedecution because we already pay 10% for the tax when we buy the ticket.

The lotto company by right should assure the winners privacy but when they published that the jackpot have been win by somebody from what place, I don't think they kept it as a secret even though they didn't provide name. And if EPF ( Employee Providence Funds) employee can co-operate with con men to deceive those who just receive their pension money to give away their money for cheap, I don't think there is no reason why it can't be happen to Lotto company staff. After all not everybody is honest and good.

I only wish I could win big money on the lottery like that, I would pay off all my bills first and pay all my family's bills as well and try to help the less fortanate people in this world the poor, sick, and homeless it would touch my heart so deeply to be able to help those in desperate need but I sit here struggling day to day and I keep my head up and keep going and smile and hope one day I can only win this because it seems every time some one wins they are already financially fine and who knows what they do with the money I have'nt heard of any good stories of people winning big at the lottery have you? They seem to just fade away like it was just another day? So yes I would claim it. If I ever win you will know who I really am and what kind of heart I have to help the helpless!! Have a good day!!

It good to use the money to help other people and donate to charity. As far as I know, I only have news when people winning lottery in the newspaper. But I haven't heard any news about them after that. It make things a bit suspicious whether is it real that somebody have win it or is it just a strategies used by the lottery company to encourage people to buy. It is still a mystery.

I'll claim it, no doubt about this! But in my country we had a strange case recently. There was a big lottery jackpot and nobody claimed it! It was a huge mystery and many people in the town where the winning ticket was sold said that they will wait the chance to visit again there place.

that was strange. Sometimes I do have the feeling the lotto company just making up the stories about winning it to attract a lot of people to buy lotto.

The security concerns crossed my mind but where's the joy of winning if I don't claim it? I will bring people with me that will protect me to claim that and pray a lot. I think that's wise enough. But after that I will keep mum since announcing that I have won would be like attracting flies to something sweet. There lies the danger if I will take these things for granted. Hope the best for you and me. Win big!

Bringing a lot of people with you during claiming it will only spread the news even faster. That's the problem.

gooood lordddd, I desperately need money, What a dream come true, If I win a jackpot or a lottery :(. Well I don't want a lot of money but anything worth 10 Crore INR. rupees would be more than enough for me to spend my life :D. I would be definitely helping or donating some amount to poor and needy as I would find that more satisfying and peace giving. I would just buy a bunglow in a peacful location for myself make some investments for the future so that life is secured. I would spend rest of my life pursuing my hobbies and engage myself in solitude and meditation for the sake or spiritual quest which I have :P. Well I don't have the greed to accumulate a lot of money, No matter whoever comes to me if he is needy I will share some money with him, I would definitely give some to relatives and friends as per their needs :). So I Don't care about who comes and who jumps in for my money :D. I would definitely claim it, better to have something than having nothing :P. "There are enough resources in the world to satisfy mans need and not man's greed" is what I believe and I am not greedy :D, will be happy with a handful of money which will secure my entire life and won't mind giving away the remaining.

Haha. I like your line, 'Even though I didn't actively buying lottery, I just enjoy talking about it'. Anyway, of course I would claim it. Why would I buy lottery tickets and not claim the prize when I win? For the sake of saying that I have lottery tickets? LOL. I understand what you meant with the security and all. But I think you could arrange with lottery company how you would like to handle your money. I don't think they would mind if you want it wired in your account because of security concerns. With regard to the lottery being won by businessmen, that also happens a lot here in the Philippines. When the jackpot prize have snowballed to a really large sum, businessmen would invest in buying a lot of lottery tickets because they would have a huge huge chance of getting the jackpot. That's why most of the time, they are the winners of lottery because they have the means of purchasing that large amount of tickets.

If they provide a wire transfer to bank account, it sure is the best because you won't handle the check and afraid someone will rob you.

Claim it for real...a man hit a jackpot here in Uk last year of £83M. Security reasons...you are having a laugh don't you? With that kind of money, you can buy security for your entire lineage if well managed.

83M!!! That was a lot man. I know in other country the security much better and there is bank wire transfer system. Sometimes the conmen is the people inside the Lotto company itself.

I would definately claim a big jackpot if I won it. I would probably give some to family, friends and charity, then spend the rest of it on myself. Big mansion on a tropical island with a golf course...that's the life for me LOL

With 45M, I just put in the saving account and wait for the interest. Regular saving accout in my country give 4% interest per annum. Thats mean 1.6M for me every year. Wow, that is a lot of money.
