In my country the way of greeting depends on who are the persons that meet. When two ladies meet each other, they only say Hello or Good morning/day/evening. If they are close friends they may hug and kiss each others cheek. When two men meet each other, they usually say Salute! and shake hands. The older man must be the one who initiate the hand shaking. When a man and a woman meet, they also say Hello or Good morning/day/evening. The man is the one who should salute first and, if the woman iniate the hand shaking, the man can either shake the woman's hand, or kiss her hand. Kissing a lady's hand, together with taking his hat off and a slight bow are signs of high respect from a man's part. Instead of Hello, the man may say to a lady "sarut mana", wich means "I kiss your hand". This form of salute is very frequent.

Hello, chaplinjunior! As a matter of fact, I think in my country you should salute me with "sarut mana" as other men do I am from Romania, a former comunist country from Eastern Europe. How do men greet women in your country?
