What do you know about roofing?

As I've been sitting in my living room since yesterday, I've been hearing something that sounds like water hitting a bookcase behind me. Our roof was re-shingled last month, and I'm wondering if it's possible that there's a hole somewhere in the roof that the roofers made. It's been raining a lot for the last couple of days, but even in the past when it's rained I've never heard this. I wonder if my suspicion is correct, but I don't see any visible signs of leaking from the ceiling. Do you think it's possible for a brand new roof to leak even when there never was a problem in the past?
