What is the best way to promote your blog?

Hello. I have just started a new blog. I need to promote the blog. I am confused. What are the different effective ways to promote your blog? I am a bit afraid to keep on updating it as I fear that it might all be in vain. Of course I would like to see some regular traffic so that I may interact with them along with posting new topics. If you don't update there is no reason for anyone to revisit your blog ever again so keep updating. What many people do is they start using Traffic Exchanges to bring in hits to their site while they build up a loyal fan base and then they start to rely only on those returning users. I would suggest using EasyHits4U as a start.

I agree. But I want people to visit. Revisiting is a different issue. Once I see traffic coming in, even at a rate of one user a day, I will feel much more confident to post. Currently i am feeling as if I am speaking to the walls. I need that initial traffic. Easyhits4u, with 1:1 ratio, is a good way to bring in traffic. The problem is that the traffic is good in quantity, not in quality.The only place that they are looking at is the timer. I have tried it in vain. Maybe I need to make the blog look interesting.
