Mum has had her Magimix Food Mixer for at least 10 years, probably longer. I actually bought it for her and it cost over £100 then!! It has stood the test of time though, and has an extremely quiet motor. She can't use it as a blender though which is annoying, considering the price of this machine at the outset. It's brilliant for making pastry and such-like, according to Mum. I have a juicer/blender but I can't use it as a food mixer and it's not a Magimix either, unfortunately, although it wasn't dear, only about £35 or so. What's the point of all this? Well, Karl Pilkington "An Idiot Abroad" was going on about inventions that would actually help us all..and he came up with a see-through toaster. He looked at the camera and said, "I googled it a while back and someone else has already thought of it!" Yeh right, Karl! Well, folks, here's proof that he's not as dumb as he looks(!) and Magimix have come up with the world's first see-through toaster. A snip at £160!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzPVeGEmvgE Would you buy one?

Technology has evolved so much for convenience that I rarely utilize the great many I have. Microwaves for one is sort of replacing the conventional ovens. I do use my oven and stove top more then some people I know because I sort of prefer it this way as to me things are fresher, tastier and better prepared. I rarely use a toaster though and hardly ever use my blender..

I know what you mean about conventional oven-cooked food. I prefer it to the microwave as we only use that to heat stuff up. The conventional oven is great, plus it has a built-in grill that is infra-red but we didn't know this until we used it. Instant heat and all that. I love it although we do use the seperate toaster quite a lot too. It beeps when ready..and the matching electric kettle whistles. It's quite entertaining if I have both of them running at the same time! I've only used my juicer/blender about 4 times..since I found out how fattening smoothies are I can't really be bothered!

I guess there are people who would, but I would not.I do not use a toaster that much. I have some really good kitchen appliances, but I do not use them as much as I should, I guess.I have food processor, meat grinder, blender, mixer, and salad processor. I have a toaster, toaster oven, microwave oven. I have lots of appliances. What did our ancestors do?

It makes you wonder doesn't it? I mean, Henry VIII ate a lot but it was years and years ago. I'd love to know how all his food was prepared!
