President for a lifetime?

Why in the era of the old order could occur is the president of the national leadership for a lifetime? Would you agree if the reform era, this pattern was imposed again?

It seems impossible in the era of reform. Surely it would be a lot of opposition, must be lots of people who march to lose the presidency, as happened to Suharto.
