How do I continue to get article views?

I was just looking at some of my online articles and their stats. I noticed that both of the web sites that I have been writing on have taken a big hit the last couple of months. Does anyone have any good ideas on how I can get more article views? Where I can place backlinks? etc? Most of my articles reference either home improvement or travel. So any ideas anyone?
