What's up with Google and Youtube's Logo Today?

Google seems to be working on a new version of google today so when you go to Google.com you will reach a page with "beta" and "SSL" written around Google. No idea what those mean but when you go to the old version of Google... for example:

You get that sketchy thing as a Google logo. Same is with Youtube today.
When they change up the logos it's usually for an occasion or gimmick. Like when they made a playable Google Pacman logo on Pacman's 30th anniversary.
