How much information is contained in one gram of DNA?

Give a wild guess? According to some estimates I have come across, one gram of DNA contains as much information as one trillion CDs. The DNA- product of intelligent Designer or the result of an accident or random chance?

wow!!what a huge number!we just know a little about our body while it's actually more to discover.DNA contains lots of data about ourselves!the more i think i know the more actually i not know enough~

Amazing isn't it! I'm with you that we have so much to learn. God does open to us the possibility of living forever so that we will continually learn about how great He is.

The other option is evolution. Evolution is neither an accident or random chance. DNA contains a lot of evidence of its evolutionary changes, which of course does not mean it wasn't intelligently designed, as it could have been designed to evolve and adapt. However, DNA also contains a lot of "junk" which doesn't do anything, which doesn't seem like the product of an intelligent designer.

We are just beginning to understand the DNA. It may turn out that the junk has or had some use. Let's give it time as brilliant scientists discover the amazing information in the DNA.

That is true; they've already discovered that some of what they previously thought was junk is "epigenetic," that is, it "turns on or off" genes in response to environmental triggers. But a lot of the DNA we don't use actually contains our evolutionary history; like genes for the fins we now longer have. Scientists can figure out how long ago two species diverged based on DNA coding now.

Understanding and decoding the DNA will probably help us understand a lot about ourselves, where we come from and the potential we have or were given. An intelligent person will take nothing for granted but examines and re-examines everything. We may find that as another great book, the Bible tells us, we are genetically faulty, due to Adam's sin and that is why we get sick and die. Because our brain capacity has the potential to hold information for a billion of our times and more. We may find that we were designed to live forever in health. Imagine that! And the key may lie in the DNA! Boggles my mind! The future has never been brighter. The potential has never been greater. But we might have to eat humble pie as we put all of the pieces of the puzzle of who we are and where we come from together.

I found a great article about a nuclear scientist who after studying the subject if there is a Creator and Designer or not, ended up in believing in the Bible. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040122a/article_01.htm He must have studied the DNA very carefully too, even if he is expert in another field.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me of this prophecy. I love to read about the fulfilled prophecies. The book of Daniel is one of my favorites and one sentence there is so interesting: "Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand." Daniel 12:10 (New International Version) I guess it is the same with the DNA book. Only those with the right mindset will understand that there must be a Great Designer behind it!
